It is very clear that women in the medieval time period and in modern day are completely different. In today’s society, women are known to be sensitive as well as strong. However, in the medieval period, women were either known to be good or evil. Meaning they were either known for their acquitted personalities or their seductive ways. However, in today's society people have several views of women. Women are known for their strength being able to do anything a man can do or even more. In addition, in our society, it is very unusual for a woman to ask a man out. However, this was not the case in the “Wife of Bath’s Tale” the old magical lady gave the knight the answer to “what thing it is that women most desire” then seduced him by telling him that he should pledge to her that he will do whatever she required of him, which later result in her begging him to take her as his wife. The expectation of women in the medieval time period is also different than in modern days. Women in the medieval period desire “sovereignty”. They only want to have power over their husbands as much as any lover (Osborn, 33). However, women today want to end gender inequality. They want the same opportunity as a man which includes equal pay, equal rights, respect etc.
